Loughrigg Tarn is situated along from Grasmere in the Central Lakes. Photographed here in the subdued light of a hazy winter dawn, the tarn is temporarily frozen after the cold snap of winter 2009. The impressive Langdale Pikes loom high in the distance, framing the northern side of the tarn.
