The North York Moors Railway is loyally served by a band of regular and volunteer wiorkers. Each day the boiler must be fired up, with layers of wood and coal allowed to take before more coal is added. Typically it takes 3-4 hours for a steam train to reach working pressure if it is still warm from the day before.
